See Andy Baker & Studio Moross' brilliant cinematic animation for Parklife festival

For the third year running, Andy Baker from New York City production studio Hornet has teamed up with London design agency Studio Moross to create the launch film for Parklife music festival, held in Manchester.

With a cinematic twist and a fresh female lead, the animation follows a duo caught up in a series of action-packed events while at the same time announcing the artist lineup. This year it includes The xx, Lorde, Jamie xx, A$AP Rocky and loads more. The animation a massive step up from the previous Parklife launch films.

See how many films references you can pick out or recognise from the animation. You might need to watch it a few times to get them all.

Last year's animation was centred around 1980s colours and references, but this year it's all about cinema and film, both nostalgic – such as a black-and-white outdoor cinema screening of King Kong – and relevant. The same 'Parklife guy' from the two previous launch films is refreshingly saved by a new redhead female lead, but with the same neon colours and stylisation.

Hornet director Andy Baker has worked on the last two launch films for Parklife – you can check them out below, beginning with 2017.

Andy is part of the group that formed This Is It Collective, which created the title sequence fro VICE UK and landed the collective on the map for up-and-coming animators. Andy has collaborated with artists and illustrators for clients such as Vans, Warner Brothers and Adidas & Asics.
