Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens isn't out until 18 December, 2015, but you can get your first glimpse here.
The first trailer to the highly-anticipated next Star Wars movie has just hit the web. You can watch it above. See also: What's the font in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens logo?
The trailer starts on what appeas to be the deserts of Tatooine, before moving onto X-Wings streaking across a planet with mountains in the background and a dark Jedi with a very medieval-looking light-saber.
There's also a crowd-pleasing appearance from grimy rustbucket that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs, the Millennium Falcon.
For me, the most pleasing thing about the trailer is the visual effects: they look authentically dirty – as dirty as the non-remastered original trilogy did back when I was a kid. The remastered films and prequels just looked too damn clean to my mind, and the CG and compositing has dated badly – worse than the originals' minatures and very basic VFX and graphics.
