Gravity VFX and colour grading detailed by Brickyard

Boston and Santa Monica-based VFX and animation studio Brickyard VFX has created visual effects for the short film Gravity, which you can watch in its entirety above.

Directed by Chad Jackson, Gravity focuses on a poignant late night phone conversation between partners Jill and John (played by Elizabeth McDonough and Stephen Moffatt – an American actor, not Dr Who's lead writer and the creator of the childhood inspiration for many of our journalists, Press Gang).

The short includes ethereal views of the earth and outer space as the pair’s conversation progresses. The director tapped Brickyard VFX to complete several key CG VFX shots as well as colour grading, credits, and other beauty work. Brickyard’s head of CG David Blumenfeld completed the VFX shots of the earth and outer space using Maya, and Brickyard’s lead Flame artist Chris Sonia completed colour grading in Autodesk Lustre.

The film premieres this week at the HollyShorts Film Festival (HSFF) in Los Angeles. HSFF showcases short films (30 minutes or less) from around the world in various genres and technical categories including 3D, animation, VFX, cinematography and more. Gravity will screen in the VFX Shorts category.
