Updated: Courvoisier's history projected onto papercraft theatre

Courvoisier has released a new video about this project, which you can watch above.

Papercraft theatre creators Davy and Kristin McGuire – creators of the wonderful production of Howl's Moving Castle at the Southwark Playhouse last Christmas – have taken on a more commercial project to tell the history of Courvoisier at Harrods. You can see a video of the production above.

The husband-and-wife team specialise in papercraft sets that are brought to life by front- and back-projecting silhouettes of scenes onto them. For Alchimie de Courvoisier, the McGuires reimagined the cognac brand's Paradis ageing cellar ‘L’Atelier de Courvoisier’ and charts the brand's evolution against a background of the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution and global expansion.

The Alchimie de Courvoisier installation is part of the wider Courvoisier global campaign by experiential design-led creative agency White Label.

“Creating Courvoisier is nothing short of alchemy," said White Label’s creative director, Greg Saunders. "Passionate artisans meticulously craft the world's most precious liquid using the finest natural ingredients and time itself. Davy and Kristin McGuire’s work struck us as the perfect way to articulate this – interpreting Courvoisier's magical process and history by fusing film and physical installation.”
