The prompts are here for Inktober 2019 – what will you create?

With one month to go until Inktober, the month-long challenge where artists post one ink-drawn work for each day of October, illustrators and budding artists everywhere are already getting ready with the release of 2019's prompts.

The rules of Inktober are simple: make an ink drawing – you're allowed to use a pencil under-drawing if you wish – and post on your favourite social media networks come October 1st with the hashtag of #inktober and #inktober2019.

Although a lot of artists use this period as a great way to showcase their art, Inktober is open to anyone and everyone, even untalented artists like ourselves at Digital Arts.

Official Inktober 2019 Prompt List

You can use the official Inktober 2019 prompt list below if you run out of inspiration, as dreamt up by Inktober creator and artist in his own right Jake Parker. The prompts are also available in different languages on the Inktober site.

There are usually loads of 'unofficial' Inktober prompts you can follow, too, like these 2018 ones from Brut Magazine based around 31 cult movies. Here's a tribute to 1987 horror Street Trash by OEK Design; find more in our best of selection here.

31 new drawings can be a daunting challenge, so don't put undue pressure on yourself. As illustrator Matt Saunders tweeted last year, "Don't forget it’s a self imposed thing; you don’t need to apologise if you can’t do it. Enjoy what you do, don’t punish yourself in your spare time and if you do it, try to enjoy it."

Wise words Matt - and good luck if you take on the Inktober 2019 challenge, people. If you don't have a decent enough pen to ink with, check out our 10 Best Drawing Pens for Artists and Designers.
