Cafe group Apostrophe has launched Espresso Yourself, a competition to design a special edition winter takeaway cup.

Following its Window Wonderland competition last year that invited creatives to design festive artwork for the store windows, Espresso Yourself will give participants the chance to have their artwork printed on Apostrophe’s cups during the winter season.

Open to everyone, the competition is running until 16th August 2010. The winning design will be chosen by a panel including Emma Farrow, head of design at Topshop, Irene Bradbury, assistant director at the White Cube gallery, and Kevin Curran, CEO of Tri-star Packaging.  The announcement will be made on 23rd August 2010. The cups will be in stores from November 2010.

All entries will be displayed on Apostrophe’s Facebook page, where fans can vote for their favourite design. The top five entries will be included in the final ten, from which the judging panel will pick the winner.

The winning designs will be printed on all Apostrophe’s regular-sized 12oz takeaway cups from November 2010 to January 2011. The artist will get £500 of art supplies from Cass Art, plus a year of free coffee from Apostrophe.

The brief is to use up to four whole colours – white and three others – and should evoke a 'wintry' feel. More info and a template can be found on the 'Expresso Yourself' site.
