Mere months after the launch of Affinity Designer for the iPad, Serif are at it again with the launch of Affinity Publisher, available now as a free download for public beta testing.
Primarily marketed as an alternative to Adobe grandstand InDesign, the new software promises full integration with not only the Designer app but also Affinity Photo, allowing owners of all three programs to edit vector designs and images in one location.
Key desktop publishing capabilities built into Affinity Publisher of interest to designers include dynamic photo frames, advanced typography and facing page spreads.
"From the earliest days of visualising the Affinity range, we planned a trio of sleek apps created to work with the latest technology – ultra-fast, and completely stripped of bloat," says Ashley Hewson, Serif managing director. “The final step towards realising that initial ambition will come with the launch of Affinity Publisher, an all-new app which we believe will revolutionise desktop publishing."
Other features on offer from Affinity Publisher include linked text frames and resources, master pages, tables, baseline grids and end-to-end CMYK. Early users will see buttons to switch to Photo and Designer within Affinity Publisher, though these will not be activated until later in the beta period.
