Microsoft has announced that more than one million people are now members of the worldwide Xbox Live online video gaming service.

First introduced in November 2002, Xbox Live reached the million-member mark three times faster than other subscriber-based services such as America Online and TiVo, it said.

With EA joining the line-up of Xbox Live titles, the growth in the subscriber base shows no signs of slowing.

Microsoft claims that players in 24 countries have spent more than 160 million hours playing Xbox Live, with an average of 265,549 hours a day. London is one of the top 15 cities worldwide for Xbox Live members.
