Sony has announced two new camcorders, the 3-CCD DCR-HC1000 and the 3Mp DCR-PC350. Both models feaure Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lenses and will be launched in the UK in September.
Sony claims that the DCR-HC1000 brings broadcast quality performance to the prosumer market, with its three 1/4.7-inch, 1.07Mp CCDs for maximum light sensitivity and colour reproduction, its Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens and active lens image stabilization.
The camcorder is also equipped with a four-channel microphone for recording full 5.1-channel surround sound.
The DCR-PC350 is aimed more at the hobbyist market, though with a 3Mp CCD with a primary colour filter and the 10x optical zoom Zeiss lens, Sony claims the camcorder delivers superior image quality.
The camera dock provides camcorder connectivity and charges the battery, and Sony claims that this makes this model 20 per cent smaller than Sony’s previous 3Mp models.
