Corbis has announced the winners of the inaugural Corbis Award for Creative Photography, a new award created in partnership with the Golden Drum Festival.

The winning entry, Fastest Bike Courier (below), created by photographer Hans Starck and submitted by Scholz & Friends Berlin, was chosen from more than 250 submissions from across Europe.

The award, which honoured the best photography created for advertising and promotions in 2006 and 2007, was presented at the Golden Drum Festival taking place October 14 - 19 in Portorož, Slovenia. The festival is considered to be the second most influential advertising convention after Cannes Lions.

Stark received a €5,000 (around £3,500) prize and a pass to this year’s Golden Drum Festival for his winning entry.

“The overall quality of the entries was really impressive as was the sheer number of submissions,” said Siri Vorbeck, Creative Director, EMEA, for Corbis. “Having so many excellent photographs to choose from made the selection process very difficult.”

The second prize was awarded to photographer Andrzey Dragan whose shot Converse Tattoo (above) was submitted by Photoby/JWT Warsaw, and third place went to Susanne Ludwig for her photograph Post-It Campaign Office (below), which was submitted by Scholz & Friends Berlin. The second and third place winners each earned passes to the festival.

In addition to the top three prizes, a short list of 30 notable photographs were selected and put on display during the festival at the Minorit Monastery in Piran near Portorož.
