Freeverse Software on Friday announced an update to Lineform, its drawing and illustration software for Mac OS X. The new 1.2.3 version is ready for download, and is a free update for registered users. Lineform costs $79.95.

Lineform provides vector-based drawing and illustration tools at a fraction of the cost of higher-end products. The recipient of an Apple Design Award at the 2006 Worldwide Developer Conference, Lineform is a Universal binary for Intel and PowerPC-based Macs, and features Bezier editing tools, boolean operations, advanced typesetting features, artistic strokes and more.

Version 1.2.3 improves Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) support for inline images and improves text support. Image handling and automatic scrolling are improved, as well. Millimeters can now be used as a measurement unit preference, and the CMYK preview is now Soft Proof. Layer behavior has been enhanced, style handling retains a tool's styling; rasterization of gradients is better in PDF output; EPS images can now be saved with gradients, and many other enhancements have been made as well. A complete list of what's been changed has been posted to Freeverse's discussion forums.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later. A demo version is available for download.
