Extensis has released Portfolio 7 and Portfolio Server 7, new editions of its Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution. Portfolio is aimed at photographers, graphic artists and other creative professionals in small to medium-sized companies who need to organize, retrieve and distribute digital content.

NetPublish is a new add-on module in Portfolio 7 that automates the online distribution of Portfolio-managed content. The software enables Portfolio users to publish Web sites with image search, "collection basket", preview and batch-download capabilities without needing to know how to code HTML or JavaScript. Also new is AutoSync, which enables automatic synchronization, file management and processing in Portfolio Server. One-click CD and DVD archiving, batch image conversion to JPEG or TIFF format, and round-trip embedding of IPTC and XMP metadata into JPEG and TIFF files are also new.

Portfolio 7 costs $199.95 (around £110) including one NetPublish licenses. An unlimited Web connection version is available for $999.95 (£550). Upgrades from previous versions cost $99.95 (£55). Portfolio 7 Server starts at $3,499.95 (£1,925), with upgrades starting at $1,199.95 (£660). Portfolio 7 is compatible with Mac OS X and Windows 2000/XP.
