Leading US contemporary artist Cy Twombly will display works in a major exhibition at the Tate Modern, London, opening this Thursday (June 19) This is his first solo retrospective in over 15 years.
Part of the generation of US artists that also includes Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol, Twombly's distinctive scribbled and vibrantly daubed style has made him one of the most collectable living artists.
Cy Twombly – Cycles and Seasons celebrates Twombly's lengthy and distinguished career, assembling works from across his five-decade career. Several key groups of images are brought together for the first time, such as Tate’s Four Seasons 1993–4 with those from the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
The exhibition takes place June 19 to September 14; for ticket reservations and visiting information visit the Web site.
