Dell Inspiron designed for DVDs

Dell Computer has released a notebook that will appeal to designers and give you a good alternative to airplane movies: The Inspiron 5000e sports a superhigh-resolution Ultra XGA LCD, suitable for high-quality graphics and playing DVDs. The Inspiron 5000e is a traveller's notebook measuring 1.5-inches and weighing 6.75 pounds. Prices start at around £1,200 for an Inspiron 5000e equipped with a 600-MHz Intel Mobile Celeron, a 14.1-inch XGA display, 64MB of memory, and a 6GB hard drive. Models can be configured with larger hard drives and additional system memory. The screen is available in several configurations, including 14.1-inch and 15-inch SXGA screens, 14.1- and 15-inch XGA screens, and what Dell touts as the highest-resolution display available: a 15-inch UXGA screen. All units also have an ATI Rage Mobility 128 video card with full AGP support and 16MB of video memory, and an S-Video out port for connecting to large-screen TVs or multimedia projectors. Dell claims its Ultra XGA display is a first for notebooks. It's aimed at people "looking for high performance and superb graphics in a notebook PC," according to Brad Blietz, Inspiron marketing director. Built into the Inpsiron 5000e are wireless networking functions that support connectivity at speeds up to 11 megabits per second over distances up to 150 feet. The units come with a floppy drive, and a modular media bay can support a second battery, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, and Zip drive modules. Dell
