Canopus has revealed further details about Imaginate 2.0 for Windows, which will be unveiled at NAB in the US later this month, including pricing and availability.

Imaginate 2.0 is scheduled to be available from May, at a price of £109 plus VAT. The upgrade price from previous versions of Imaginate is £29 plus VAT.

Imaginate 2.0 is the latest version of Canopus’s still-image animation software which allows users to transform still images and photographs into movies. New features trumpeted by Canopus include a Storyboard editing mode with multiple image support, new soundtrack capabilities and a project Wizard to streamline production.

With Imaginate, editors can pan, zoom, rotate, skew, and combine all of these movements to create cinematic effects that are not bound by two dimensions, claims Canopus. Imaginate functions either as a standalone product or as an Adobe Premiere plug-in that lets editors drop Imaginate files directly onto the Premiere timeline for editing and includes alpha channel support for compositing effects.

The new Edit Project Mode provides a complete overview of the project and allows groups of images to be imported directly into the project, Canopus claims, and the Storyboard interface allows images to be arranged in any order by drag and drop.

Photo-montages, slide shows and presentations can be created with multiple images, linked with dissolves. Canopus claims that Imaginate 2.0’s use of smart memory management allows hundreds of high-resolution images to be handled without overloading system resources.

The new soundtrack capability lets users import audio files, including music or narration. Canopus claims that new productivity tools, including wizard interfaces and template libraries, simplify project configurations including camera movements, video effects and scene lengths.
