Ambient Design has announced that version 3 of its ArtRage painting application will ship today. It's available in Studio and Studio Pro versions.

An update from ArtRage 2.5, the new versions come with a additional tools and an improved interface.

New tools include a watercolour brush, an auto smoothing Inking Pen for fine line work, Flood Fill, a Selection tool, a Text Tool that allows live editing of text on layers, the special effect Gloop Pen.

The Transform Tool gives users quick access to changing the scale, position, and rotation of objects on the canvas.

ArtRage will now come in two options. Studio Pro for users who want "higher-end" editing systems and tool settings, and Studio for users who don't need the "professional bells and whistles". Both versions include all of the painting tools.

ArtRage Studio costs $40, around £24, while ArtRage Studio Pro is $80, around £49.

The $25/£15 ArtRage 2.5 will still be available for purchase and will continue to receive support. Various upgrade options are available.
