New Folio Society editions of the Game of Thrones books feature fantastic illustrations

The Folio Society is publishing the entire series of George R. R. Martin’s epic saga A Song of Ice and Fire, starting with the first in the series, A Game of Thrones.

The show may be coming to an end, but Game of Thrones obsessives have always got the entire A Song of Ice and Fire saga to read for the first time if they haven't already - or re-read if they have.

Anyone looking to double dip their George R. R. Martin (GRRM) collection will be happy to know esteemed publishers The Folio Society are publishing the entire series of the books in new editions for 2019, starting with the first in the series, A Game of Thrones, on 16th July.

A Game of Thrones will be illustrated by award-winning artist Jonathan Burton and introduced by best-selling fantasy author Joe Abercrombie; it also comes in a two-volume set with a foldout map of the Known World, as bound in a separate volume. All are presented in a gold-blocked slipcase with a secret illustration inside - exciting stuff.

This new collector’s edition has been approved at all stages by Martin himself, from the selection of illustrator to the bindings, materials, illustrations and map. The author as described them as "masterpieces of the bookmaker’s art", adding "books collectors and fantasy fans alike are going to delight in these volumes - I know I will."

Perhaps that sort of enthusiasm will get GRRM to finally finish the saga once and for all; after all, wouldn't seeing your precious life's work laid out in such style remind a seasoned author of that great beauty of books, of that initial thrill of holding your opus for the first time?

Well, maybe, but hey I know nothing.

A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire is available for pre-order exclusively from The Folio Society for £125.00/$195.00.
