Online current affairs and culture magazine Slate has published an excellent feature asking Can Photographers Be Plagiarists?
I would tell you more about it but you might accuse me of ripping them off.
Instead I'll wonder aloud the same question about designers, illustrators, 3D and motion graphics artists -- and even video editors (can you steal the rhythm or sequence arrangement of an edit?). Where is the line between homage (or intertextuality as we used to call it in my days as an English student) and rip-off? Is it ok if it's funny, using the defence of parody? Is it ok if I like it, and it means something to me?
Work it out for yourself. You're not stealing my opinions.
