How do you create an opener for a reality TV show based on the three girlfriends of the legendary Playboy magazine founder/ publisher Hugh Hefner? US agency Nailgun took a playful approach, using a combination of 2D, 3D and stop-motion animation to portray the women as paper-cutout dolls magically transported from their former lives into the Playboy dollhouse.

The titles begin with a shot of former cheerleader, now Hef’s ‘number-one’ girl, Holly. Her blonde head is composited onto her smaller body in her cheerleader’s outfit against a backdrop of crowds at a high school football game.

Going into a high-speed spin, the cheerleader’s body is replaced by one in an elegant evening gown standing in her palatial pink bedroom, complete with bubble bath and her four small dogs.

Then the “smart-one”, Bridget, with her Master’s degree in communications, appears in a library setting with book, glasses and mortarboard before being transported to her own pink bedroom along with her cat.
