If you accept that light is one of the basic prerequisites for photography, night photography immediately throws up some daunting challenges. The potential for muddy images devoid of detail and interest is high. As a result, it’s tempting to follow the classic Hollywood approach and create night images from daylight scenes. Using Photoshop to do this can add a new dimension to the task, enabling you to decide what kind of night it is (from twilight to the dead of night) and control the ambient light. Here, we’ll use two different methods that create very different types of night scenes.
