Miranda Hebert trained at Capilano University in Canada; and counts her sketchbook and pen as her favourite tools.
Where did you train, and what did you specialise in?
Illustration and Design at Capilano University, Canada.
What are your favourite tools?
These are my sketchbook and pen, as they are my first port of call when starting a new project.
What techniques do you use most?
Photoshop for editing photos, as it’s very forgiving and allows me to bring my work to life. I also love experimenting with different materials, but it all depends on what’s right for the brief.
What’s your favourite piece you’ve created?
My [self-initiated design for] Crow & Co. shoe shine. I created it while still studying and I’m glad I pushed myself to do it. It’s won several awards and I get the most compliments for it.
What kinds of materials do you work with?
I love being resourceful and experimenting with different materials but it all depends on what’s right for the brief.
What (if any) computer packages do you use?
Mainly Adobe Creative Suite.
Which clients have you worked for? Where have you exhibited your work?
Since I just finished my education, not a lot. Canada and the UK (London - New Designers 2012 exhibition was the latest.)
What inspires you?
The smallest observations that usually go unnoticed.
The idea behind these branding and packaging designs for Crow and Co. shoe shine was to revive the traditional shoe shine in a convenient kit
