We spotted Heidi's work at the Central St Martins graduate show, where we instantly made a beeline for her strikingly wonderful 3D illustrations that have their basis in digital collage.
What’s your favourite tool and why?
My computer and scanner. I’m not great at drawing or painting, so digital imaging is the perfect medium for bringing my ideas to life. It’s my main vehicle for self expression and creativity.
What techniques do you use most?
Digital and 3D collage. I’ve found mixing digital manipulation techniques with hands-on collage extremely interesting. For me this combination of techniques really brings out the essence of collage making.
What kinds of materials do you work with?
Copyright-free imagery, family photos, old magazines and books, toys, textures, and so on.
Anything that fits on to my scanner.
What (if any) computer packages do you use?
Adobe Creative Suite 4. I can’t wait to get my hands on a newer version.
Who are your dream clients?
Oh, there are so many. I’d love to design prints for Stella McCartney, create a sound and visual installation with Henrik Vibskov, and work with various music artists and festivals.
What’s your dream job?
To set up my own studio and work with clients from all over the world.
This 3D collage was inspired by a quote from Swiss playwright Max Frisch: “My greatest fear: repetition”
