Vimeo has launched a new version of its iOS app, including native support for the iPad and integration with the Vimeo Music Store.

Featuring a built-in full-screen video editor, Vimeo is aiming to take advantage of the growing numbers of people who shoot video on their mobile devices by offering them the ability to quickly edit and upload footage directly from their iPhone.

"We've seen mobile traffic triple since we launched our original iPhone app in early 2011," said Joseph Schmitt, lead mobile developer at Vimeo.

"Now, we've taken what we learned while creating our previous apps and applied it to the updated iOS to improve overall design and usability. We're especially pleased with the awesome iPad user interface, which the Vimeo community has eagerly awaited."

Many of the features available on the Vimeo site have been included in the new iOS app, such as the ability to browse through other videos while watching a video, access your Feed and Watch Later queue as well as comment on and like the videos you are watching.

You can upload raw or edited footage in standard or high definition, easily pause and resume uploads should you have any issues with your signal strength, edit titles, descriptions, tags, privacy settings, and credits and share your videos via social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, blogging services like Tumblr, WordPress and via SMS and email too.

You'll also be able to access data about the number of plays, likes and comments your videos have received.

The free app is compatible with the iPod touch, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the first- and second-generation iPads and requires iOS 4.3 or above and is available now in the App Store.

Vimeo first launched an iOS app back in the first quarter of 2011. Back at CES in January, Vimeo unveiled its first apps for Android and Windows Phone. The company is also in the process of overhauling its website.
