GenArts has released version 5 of its Sapphire plug-in for After Effects. Sapphire is used for lighting effects in almost all Hollywood blockbusters. Version 5 adds GPU accelration for better performance, floating point computation for more accurate results, and support for AE CS5.
The company says that Sapphire 5 provides GPU acceleration for lightning-fast render speeds and full interactivity at HD resolutions. This is available in the Windows version only, with Mac support to be added through a free update later. Full floating point support provides amazing image quality and maximum dynamic range, according to GenArts.
Sapphire 5 also includes many new transitions and effects such as TVDamage and Technicolor, and is 64-bit and fully supports Adobe’s new CS5 release.
GenArts Sapphire 5 for Adobe After Effects is now available for both Windows and Mac. Floating licenses are priced at $2,499 (around £1,740); node-locked licenses are available for $1,699 (£1,185). Users may upgrade from either Sapphire version 1 or 2 to Sapphire 5 for $299 (£210), and monthly rental licenses are priced at $169 (£117).
