GenArts, the company behind the highly regarded Sapphire VFX plug-ins used in many feature films and high-end broadcast commercials, has releaed an update for its preset-driven Sapphire Edge plug-in set that adds support for Apple’s Final Cut Pro X.
Previous compatible with Final Cut Pro 6 and 7, Sapphire Edge 1.1 costs US$299 (around £190). It brings more 350 effects presets to Apple’s high-end video editor, along with multiprocessor support and GPU acceleration for users with Nvidia graphics cards that support that company's CUDA architecture. It also includes a year’s access to GenArts’ FX Central site, a collection of preset visual effects and tutorials.
The plug-in’s preset browser allows you to view how predefined effects will play out in your footage, allowing users to be sure the effects are what they want without needing to waste valuable rendering time.
Sapphire Edge is available now and requires Final Cut Pro X version 10.0.3 or higher. The full version of Sapphire currently still supports only Final Cut Pro X 6 and 7, and not X.
