What if we lived in a world populated by people without mouths? Dutch animation studio Job, Joris & Marieke wondered just that, and has created a fun animated short with a rather dark undertone that explores the question.
The four-minute-long CG animation, Mute, follows quirky characters, animated in Jobs, Joris & Marieke's signature style, as they find (pretty gory) ways to solve their mute problem thanks to a bloody incident involving a baby and a kitchen knife.
We weren't sure whether to laugh or gasp in horror as each of the mouth-creating techniques played out, but that's what makes the short so captivating.
Job, Joris & Marieke's Mute animation, which features music by Happy Camper and voices by Dutch rapper Fresku, premiered at the Dutch Film Festival and has also been screened at the Anim'est festival in Bucharest.
