After the success of last year's MUTE animated film, Dutch animation studio Job, Joris & Marieke have once again teamed up with musical group Happy Camper to create a new animation that combines charm and horror in an unusual but effective mix.

The animation, created as a music video for Happy Camper's The Daily Drumbeat, stars a group of stripy creatures who find themselves playing a game that, should they lose, has dire consequences.

We loved the way Job, Joris & Marieke managed to make us smile at the same time as shocking us with MUTE, so we're pleased to see that the studio has pulled off this mean feat again with The Daily Drumbeat.

It's difficult not to smile at the seemingly cute CG characters as they run across rooftops clinging to their drumsticks, but it's not until the very end that you realise the true nature of the game they're playing.

Job, Joris & Marieke brought turned the characters from sketches (above) to animations using a variety of software including Maxon Cinema 4D (below).
