Sony acquires Dutch game software studio

Thursday 08 Dec 2005 - 10:08

Sony Computer Entertainment has acquired Guerrilla BV, a Dutch games software maker, and will merge it into its recently formed worldwide studios division, it said Thursday.

Guerrilla developed Killzone, a title for the PlayStation 2 that has shipped almost two million units worldwide, and it currently developing Killzone-series titles for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable (PSP).

The companies did not place a value on the acquisition, nor say how much in cash or shares were exchanged.

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios was formed on September 1 this year with an aim to strengthen game development and publishing for Sony's PlayStation range of hardware.
