Apple to launch new Final Cut Studio on Sunday?

Friday 13 Apr 2007 - 11:39

Apple is expected to announced the next version of its Final Cut Studio collection of video editing and compositing software at a press conference at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) trade show on Sunday.

The company is hosting a special event on Sunday April 15 for an invite-only audience, before the show opens to the public on Monday. In 2005 it used the chance to unveil Final Cut Studio and Soundtrack Pro.

Further evidence comes from the news releases of plug-in vendors who create add-ons for Final Cut Pro and Motion, who have made reference to debuting upgrades to plug-ins at NAB that add support for "the new Final Cut Studio", as well as the video products in Adobe's forthcoming Creative Suite 3. The last release of Final Cut Studio was the minor 5.1 update over a year ago.

Phenomenon, as Apple's replacement for its Shake visual effects software is codenamed, isn't expected to debut -- as it's not due until 2008.

Final Cut Studio currently includes Final Cut Pro 5.1 for video editing, Motion 2.1 for motion graphics, Soundtrack Pro for audio creation and editing, DVD Studio Pro 4 for DVD and Blu-ray Disc authoring, and Compressor for video encoding.
