Resize matters for Digital Anarchy

Friday 21 Apr 2006 - 16:18

Digital Anarchy has released ReSizer 2.0, a plug-in for After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro that offers high-quality upscaling of SD footage into HD. The plug-in also enables editors and compositors to zoom in on areas of footage with less loss of quality than using built-in tools, according to the company.

ReSizer 2.0 included improved algorithms that Digital Anarchy says allows footage to be blown to 800 per cent of its original size. The plug-in offers a choice of three algorithms for different types of footage.

The upgrade offers a deinterlacer functions that uses time estimation to analyse multiple frames and produce a detailed progressive frame from interlaced footage. A preset manager speeds up the resizing of common formats, and support for output dimensions in pixels – rather than as a percentage of the original – has been added. Fine tuning controls have also been improved, says Digital Anarchy.

ReSizer 2.0 costs $149 (around £85), with owners of version 1.0 able to upgrade for $99 (around £55). The plug-in works within After Effects 5.0 or higher, Final Cut Pro 4.0 or higher, and Premiere Pro 2.0.
