Leading creatives - including Alex Haigh (Thinkdust), Alex Trochut, Un.titled, and Nick Hard of Research Studios, have collaborated for a joint book and event in aid of Tibet, with the exhibition opening in London last night.
The book, titled 3 Minutes, has just been released, while the exhibition, titled Designers Against Tibetan Abuse, runs until August 29 at The Gallery in Cork Street, London, and culminates in a charity auction (on August 27) of the works on show.
The exhibition features 52 pieces of original artwork, each contributed by a leading illustrator or graphic designer. The pieces have been inspired by the human rights issues facing Tibetans; the proceeds from their sale in the charity auction will go to the Tibet Relief Fund.
The exhibition is organized by the Tibet Relief Fund in collaboration with DAHRA (Designers Against Human Rights Abuse), which also produced the book. The book has been heavily trailed with a series of promos (click here to watch the promos).
The book is based on 10 three-minute interviews with Tibetans, each describing the three minutes that changed their lives. This idea is reflected in the covers of each booklet, which separately make beautiful abstract covers but together form to make a ‘3’.
Contributors were asked to translate these minute interviews into 16-page booklets, using primarily typography. The result is a book made up of 10 beautifully designed booklets from leading designers and typographers. Click here to find out more and buy the book.
