This Saturday sees a one-day illustration exhibition in Manchester organised by artist Matt Daniels -- aka Stickpop -- in memory of his girlfriend Emma Wilkinson, who died recently after a rare reaction to the Epstein-Barr virus.

The Squiddles show -- titled after Emma's nickname -- brings together work from the likes of Gav Strange, Tado, Superfex, Matt Taylor, Aaron Miller, Peskimo and Katari. Each has created a one-off piece based around cats and sailors -- Emma's two favourite things.

The exhibition is raising money for the Francis House hospice. On sale will be limited edition prints from the 15 artists involved, plus 20 limited edition t-shirts by Matt and 30 A5 hand-printed Gocco prints by Tado.

"I wanted to put together a one night event in memory of Emma because of everything she did for me," says Matt. "She helped me get back into illustration and without her I wouldn’t be doing what I do today. She’ll always be pushing me forward through my work and further projects I have lined up. She was very happy, beautiful and gentle person who wouldn’t hurt anyone and loved life.

"Myself and the people who she was close to, such as family and friends, will always sadly miss her. The Squiddles event will be a big thank you to her and to raise money for a charity I believe Emma would support strongly."

Squiddles takes place on Saturday September 18 between 3.30 and 9.30pm at The Walrus bar, High St, Manchester.
