The Brighton Illustrators Group (BiG) has announced the latest 6X6 meet up where all are welcome.

"We have six guest speakers talking for around six minutes about six pieces of work. As well as five experienced illustrators we have Simon Holland from publisher Kingfisher joining us," notes illustrator Siobhan Harrison.

"Up for discussion will be: pitching ideas to publishers, working on a self initiated project with a publisher plus New Media and it's possible uses in children's books and it's relevance to illustration. On show will be digital and hand generated work."

Guest Speakers are illustrators Mark Oliver, Nishant Choksi, Garry Parsons, George Parkin, Sam Chivers, Bill Goldsmith and Simon Holland from Kingfisher Books.

The event is held upstairs at the Grand Central Pub, The Old Nightingale Theatre, 29-30 Surrey St, Brighton, BN1 3PA on Tuesday, 30 November between 8:00pm - 11:00pm.

The Brighton Illustrators Group is not an illustration agency but a group run by illustrators for illustrators on a voluntary basis. Since BiG was formed 21 years ago, its role has been to support and advise freelance illustrators living in Brighton and the surrounding area. BiG's aim is to share information about professional practice though monthly meetings, newsletters and website as well as providing networking opportunities.

BiG members work in all areas of illustration, from editorial, children’s publishing, merchandising to the growth area of new media. Details of how to join BiG can be found here.

Last month BiG held a special event at the Apple Store, Brighton taking a close look at the role of the iPad in the future of publishing. The night proved a success with those attending getting a chance to use iPads and test out creative apps.
