The Association of Illustrators' (AOI) annual competition has been running for 37 years, but this year is the first time that the shortlist includes artists from outside of the UK. Illustrators from the USA, Australia, Israel and other countries around the world have won a place in this year's Illustration Awards shortlist.
The 15 winners were selected by a panel of illustrators, including Stephen Collins and Ulla Puggaard, as well as Art Directors from companies including Walker Books, Royal Main and Random House.
There will be two overall winners that have yet to be announced. One will be the overall winner of the Professional Illustration category, while students and recent graduates will be in with a change of becoming the overall winner of the New Talent category.
The free exhibition will be at Somerset house until 27 October, after which it will move on to new locations in its national tour, including Swansea Metropolitan University and Guildford Museum.
