Xerox has launched the Phaser 7800 A3+ colour laser printer, which it says offers graphic designers a better, faster way to create vivid, colourful advertisements, point-of-sale materials, packaging prototypes and marketing pieces.

The company claims the Phaser 7800 is packed with colour quality tools, extensive media handling capabilities and professional finishing options – producing jobs quickly and offering precise control over colour matching.

The Phaser 7800 prints at 1200 x 2400 dpi. There's an optional PhaserMeter Colour Measurement Device powered by X-Rite – which is a Xerox-only rebadged ColorMunki – for profiling to ensure colour accuracy. The Phaser 7800 has been licensed by Pantone for optimal colour reproduction of its Pantone Colour Matching System, while Adobe PostScript 3 is also supported.

The 45 page-per-minute printer handles a wider range of media weights – from 75 to 350 gsm – and more sizes than competitive printers, claims Xerox. Automatic two-sided printing, on media weights up to 256 gsm, is a standard feature and doesn’t slow down print speeds. The Phaser 7800 is also available with an optional Extra Heavy Duty Media Kit that enables automatic two-sided printing on standard and custom-size media in weights up to 300gsm.

A colour touchscreen makes navigation simple – users can view toner levels and print jobs in the queue. Green benefits include low-melt EA Toner and Hi-Q LED print engine technologies to reduce energy consumption. The heat-efficient fuser allows for start-up time of less than 15 seconds and uses less power in standby mode than conventional fusers
