Stock library Alamy has announced that it's working on expanding its collection of stock photos that should appeal to design studios, ad agencies and the like – adding more conceptual shots alongside its representational 'editorial' images.

“Occasionally we’ve managed to supply those in the creative industries with unique and quirky imagery that they need but this has never been our mainstay," says James West, CEO and founder of Alamy. "We have not made it easy for our customers to find the creative imagery that we’ve always had. So we are changing things.”

Alamy has developed a new search interface that allows sorting by relevance or quality, as judged by Alamy's team using criteria such as 'wow factor' and 'commercial appeal'.

Below are a few images that Alamy says represents this new resource.
