The Formica Envisualizer is a free online pattern design tool created by the company whose patterned laminates are synonymous with the kitchens of the 1950s and 60s.
The tool can do more than create patterns suitable for Betty Draper’s kitchen – being capable of producing repeating patterns from the organic to the abstract (such as those above and below).
Formica says that the tool can be used to create patterns for its Envision laminates, but is just as useful for creating mood board elements, or textures for design projects and 3D models.
When you create a pattern using the Envisualizer you start from a choice of three ‘algorithms’: a traditional repeating pattern, a more freeform approach using a brush, or a circular kaleidoscope.
As you’d expect, the free Formica Envisualizer was conceived as a promotional tool for the laminate brand – being created in conjunction with advertising agency Northlich and digital design firm Your Majesty.
