MGI has announced version 2.0 of its Photovista panorama-creation software. The app allows 360-degree panoramas to be created for placement on Web sites. The panoramas are created from overlapping still images. They can be created at a fixed resolution or, if used with MGI’s Zoom server, at a variable resolution. The Zoom server will initially show the panorama in low resolution but allows the user to zoom in and out while maintaining the same onscreen resolution. Photovista 2.0 has a simpler creation process and improved stitching technology, according to MGI. Also added is support for more camera lenses and auto-generation of HTML for placing the panoramas on the Web page. Photovista runs on Windows machines, with a Mac version due later this year. It costs £49.99 including VAT.
