Caligari trueSpace 5 is scheduled to ship on January 15, according to the company, following almost two years of development. New features include a complete set of NURBS tools (including blends and trimming) and Subdivision Surface tools. Read and write compatibility with new formats such as IGES, SAT, STL, and MetaStream and Shockwave formats feature.
The release - which will cost £655 for Windows - includes new image-based rendering, real-time radiosity, physically accurate rendering, goniometric lights, IIR-based materials editor, redesigned 3D paint, and real-time UV tools. Direct manipulation visual libraries, fully customizable UI, context editing, Metamuscles and Pentium 4 and AMD Athlon 3D NOW acceleration also feature. Upgrade pricing starts from £169 if order before January 15, 2001.
