Robert Tasa’s RTV File I/0 for Adobe After Effects is the latest plug-in to be released by Safe Harbor Computers. The tool allows After Effects to work with Newtek’s Video Toaster files as if they were any other file format – allowing the package to composite uncompressed D1 video. Without the plug-in, the D1 video would have to be converted to single frames – and then converted back to the RTV format for output. Although there is little loss involved in the process, it can be very time consuming. Tasa is currently working on a similar plug-in for Adobe Premiere, allowing the application to be used as an alternative to the bundled Speed Razor. RTV File I/O for Adobe After Effects costs $35 (around £25) and can be bought and downloaded from Safe Harbor’s Web site.
