Electric Rain announced today that Swift 3D 4.0 is now shipping for Windows, with a Mac version to follow in September. The application allows you to build vector- and raster-based 3D animations and export them to Macromedia Flash and other popular formats.

Version 4.0 adds a better modelling environment, the ability to use Bezier curves with control handles to more precisely designate objects' paths, galleries of pre-built models, animations and other items that can be dragged and dropped into the workspace, performance enhancements, according to Electric Rain.

The full version of Swift 3D 4.0 is $189 (around £105), with upgrades from version 3.x running $99 (£55). Electric Rain notes that anyone who purchases the new edition within a month of its ship date will save $10 off the upgrade and receive a free copy of Swift 3D Xpress, a 3D extension for Macromedia Flash MX 2004.
