Market research firm DFC Intelligence has announced a new report into video streaming on the Internet that shows that streaming grew 215 per cent in the year 2000. According to the report, more than 900 million streams were accessed last year. Other statistics listed in the report include almost 29 per cent of streams being at broadband capacity and that as much as 15 per cent of streams include in-stream advertising. "Expanding content availability, increasing bandwidth, better promotion, and program innovations really helped spur the streaming video marketplace throughout 2000," said Paul Palumbo, lead author of the report. The 275 page report includes analysis of the past three years and forecasts through to 2004.
