Sony has announced a new digital compact camera, the Cyber-shot F88, with a rotating 3x Carl Zeiss lens and a 5.1Mp CCD. The camera will be available in July, according to Sony. UK pricing has yet to be announced - in the US it will be available for $450 (around £250).
The Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens (equivalent to 38-114mm in 35mm format) rotates through 300 degrees, useful for shooting from the hip and from above the head. Sony also claims that it makes it easy to take self portrait shots, with the 1.8-inch LCD visible.
The camera has a Sony Real Imaging Processor which, Sony claims, gives more accurate picture quality, faster response and an improvement in energy efficiency.
The Cyber-shot F88 includes manual exposure for added creativity as well as ten scene modes, including a macro mode. The camera comes with a 32MB Sony Memory Stick, USB 2.0 interface and PictBridge compatibility.
