Sony has announced the SDM-S204 20.1 inch LCD display. The monitor is designed to replace conventional 21-inch CRTs, claims Sony, for applications such as video editing and digital still imaging. The screen will be available in March, with pricing yet to be announced.
The slim-bezel SDM-S204 offers UXGA (1,600-x-1,200) native resolution, with a response time of 25ms, and both analogue and digital signal inputs. Brightness levels are better than 250cd/m², greatly reducing the potential for eye strain during prolonged use, Sony claims. The SDM-S204’s screen provides 170 degrees of clear viewing, horizontally and vertically.
Although the monitor has automatic signal type detection and state-of-the-art automatic image adjustment, it also offers manual controls. The on screen display menu contains full image geometry and colour-tuning facilities. The Advanced Eco-Mode feature allows users to select rapidly between brightness settings.
