Sonic Solutions has announced that its HyperMux DVD formatting technology now supports the DVD+R double layer (DL) recording format.
DVD+R DL nearly doubles the storage capacity of a current DVD+R disc from 4.7GB to 8.5GB. Here is an explanation of how the technology works.
The HyperMux-DL engine is used in the company’s DVD authoring systems. Support for DVD+R DL will be included in their Windows PC professional products, Scenarist and DVD Producer, and their Windows commercial products later this year.
DVD+R DL is not currently supported on the Mac.
