@Last Software will offer a preview of SketchUp 3.0 in its booth at the AIA (American Institute of Architects) National Convention and Expo, which runs from May 8-10 at the San Diego Convention Center.
SketchUp is a Windows and Mac OS X-compatible tool for creating, viewing, modifying, and communicating 3D ideas. It can exchange data with all standard CAD, 3D-modelling, image-editing, illustration, and animation applications.
Version 3.0 adds the ability to add text and dimension annotation, according to the company. Users can now output to .EPS, .PDF, and .VRML files (for use with vector illustration software such Adobe Illustrator), or to .AVI and .MOV files (for use in animation and multimedia presentations). SketchUp 3.0 also adds improved arcs, circles and polygons; curved faces and soft edges; material transparency; VRML export; and a Layer Control Palette, @Last Software says.
No pricing has been announced for SketchUp 3.0. However, version 2.x costs $495 (around £306), and is available in English, French, German, Swedish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.
