Sharp Electronics has introduced a new camcorder, the VL-ME100H digital ViewCam. Measuring 66-x-85-x-191mm (WxHxD) and weighing 670g, the VL-ME100H features DV In capabilities so users can download video to their computer for editing and then upload back to the camcorder. A detachable 3.4 inch LCD screen with cable allows the camcorder to be operated remotely via a touchscreen menu.
Other features of the VL-ME100H include a F1.6 10x optical zoom lens, a built-in microphone and external zoom microphone, and a wide range of manual override options including shutter speed, white balance and auto exposure.
Sharp’s first ViewCam with a 1.3 mega-pixel CCD, it also has the ability to record 1,280-x-960 pixel still images to an SD or multimedia card that’s housed in a special slot beneath the camcorder.
The VL-ME100H is supplied with a range of accessories including an 8MB Multimedia card, PixLab Lite PC video software, a DV cable, infrared remote control and a shoulder strap. Estimated street price for the VL-ME100H is £1,004.
Also joining Sharp’s new range of digital camcorders is the VL-ME10H. Measuring 66-x-86-x-175mm (WxHxD) and weighing 540g, this compact camcorder features a three-inch colour LCD screen and a still image function with SD or Multimedia card slot for data storage and an 800,000 pixel CCD with a F1.6 lens. The VL-ME10H will available from June and ships with an 8MB Multimedia card and remote control. Pricing has yet to be announced.
