Mitsui has launched DVD-R 2.0, a new type of recordable DVD media for use in DVD-R drives such as Pioneer’s recently-launched DVR-A03 drive (known as the SuperDrive when shipped with the Apple G4 733MHz PowerMac). The discs also allow full surface printing, so users can have designs directly placed on them professionally without lowering the recording quality. DVD-R 2.0 discs cost £27 each from the usual stockists. However, by the end of the year the company expects to the price to fall to below £10 per disc, as demand increases.
