Samsung will begin selling mobile phone with a 5Mp camera later this month in South Korea.
The camera was developed in co-operation with Pentax. Currently, the highest resolution camera phones are 3Mp, although that's only on a handful of models. Most phones offer between 300,000 pixel and 2Mp resolution.
The company has also fitted a high colour, 2 inch LCD screen into the handset, capable of displaying 16 million colours - most of the company’s colour displays are capable of displaying 262,000 colours - at QVGA resolution.
Other features include text-to-speech (TTS) conversion, 3D sound effects, an MP3 digital music player, video output to a television, infrared data transmission and polyphonic ring-tones. The telephone measures 115-x-49.5-x-18.5mm and weighs 116g.
The company did not release pricing details or information about plans to sell the telephone overseas. The company typically sells different models in South Korea and overseas markets.
