Samsung unveiled its 17-inch SyncMaster 711T, an LCD monitor with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, one of the highest for a 17-inch LCD monitor Samsung claims.

Contrast ratio is a measure of the difference in brightness between the blackest black and the whitest white a monitor can display. Higher contrast ratios can offer greater legibility of text and higher tonal ranges in images. Most monitors offer a contrast ratio of around 600:1.
